Skilled healers understand the importance of intention in maintaining focus when conducting their healing sessions. Very important. But, here's the deal. Intention is important in everything we do in life. Having clarity of mind and being focused in our activities propels us forward, allowing us to close in on our goals. It is not a matter of chasing our dreams, but fulfilling them in increments. Sometimes slow and steady, other times more swiftly.

Getting a Clear Picture

Not having a clear picture of what we want is often the first obstacle in attaining our dreams. We cannot have "intent" if we uncertain of what we want. Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you what you want to be when you grow up? It is okay not to know what you want to be when you grow up. Earth is a school, rich with opportunities. We never truly "grow up" or graduate, because the lessons are infinite and ongoing. Simply focus on one thing as your intent, it doesn't have to be huge or far-reaching. As you are begin achieving your goals your momentum in achieving more goals will escalate. Up, up, and away.

Intending Long Term Goals

If you have a long term goal you're working toward, great! Try not to allow negative thinking to deter you from realizing your ultimate goal. For example, perhaps you are feeling defeated before you get started because your goal involves a partner, but you have yet to meet the other person who shares your dream. Just keep your eyes (your intent) on the ball. The other player will show up before the end of the game to help you score a WIN together.

Intending Short Term Goals

Long term goals is not for everyone. This is especially true for individuals who strive to live in the moment. However, living in the moment does not have to deter you from from future-thinking. Intent is the secret ingredient for attaining even the smallest of achievements with ease. Having a clear intent helps us stay on task doing the things we wish to finish by next week, tomorrow, or even later today. What do you intend to accomplish today? Focus! Let your intent power you.

Getting Through the Mundane Using Intent

You can (and should) use intent in getting your chores done. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, yard work, organizing.. UGH. The mundane work everyone is faced with on a daily basis are often the very activities that we often feel are obstacles to having the time to devote to focusing on our goals and dreams. But, what if you thought about your completing your chores as a goal rather than an obligation? Try this intention: Clean the Kitchen Until it Sparkles... surprisingly, it WILL actually get done quicker than when you went about cleaning it with grudgement in your heart/mind. And you will feel accomplished afterwards as well.
