Kari Brooke Jobe was born on April 6, 1981, in Dallas, Texas.

"When the Lord opens a door, walk through it. If He doesn’t, just trust."

From Gateway Worship

"Let the presence of God INVADE you today. It's all about Him...don't get distracted by the stupid things of the enemy. Remember, God wins! :)"

Kari Jobe grew up with younger siblings Kris and Caleb in a Christian household. Her dad, Mark, is the Pastor over Global Ministries at Gateway Church.

When Kari was only five, she was in children's church when what she had heard about Jesus all of her life finally made absolute sense. Pastor Jarvis, the children's minister, took her downstairs to the main church where her dad was preaching so he could lead her in the prayer to accept Christ. As she had already been singing worship music in church for two years, it was easy to see that her path would be one in music ministry and by the time she was 10, she knew without a doubt that leading worship was her calling.

After high school, Jobe attended Oral Roberts University and Christ For The Nations, where she also served on the worship staffs. She graduated from Dallas Baptist University with degrees in psychology and pastoral ministries. Upon her graduation, Gateway Church hired her as an Associate Worship Pastor, a position she has held since 2006.

Record Label Signing

Kari had released three independent albums and had been a featured worship leader on two Gateway Worship projects when she was signed by Integrity Music in 2009. The worship label released her debut album, in both English and Spanish versions, that same year. Two years later, with a Dove Award under her belt, she signed with Sparrow Records for the release of her sophomore album.
