We were living in a foreign country and I was the only person working. We have a son who was 7 years old at that time. My husband was highly qualified but still could not get a job. We prayed to God so much and applied sincerely for all the job openings we found out about: more than 300 applications in all. Yet, God chose to remain silent and did not answer during that time. God knew how desperately our family needed my husband to find a job but still remained silent. I believe that God is the great bookkeeper. He has a reason and time for everything. His ways are higher than out ways; his thoughts are not our thoughts. Still, we didn’t know what more to do in our situation. Just when we had given up all hope, a lady who was working with me (who happened to be married to a senior director at an organization in my husband’s field) came to me one day and just casually inquired about my husband. I spoke to her without knowing her background at all. At the end of the conversation, she gave me a telephone number to call. We called the number that evening, and her husband told my husband to apply for a job vacancy in his organization. The miracle of miracles: After my husband applied, the senior director offered him a job, even though my husband had no job experience abroad. God works through people and uses them as angels. He gave my husband a job in the very same city where we were living. All of our tears were wiped out. God gave us joy in double measure. He did not put me to shame; he lifted me. This all happened according to 1 Peter 5:10-11 of the Bible: "But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
