Open Letter from Dale Thompson of the Christian Band Bride

Even those in ministry can be victims of rumor and gossip and the beloved Christian band, Bride, found themselves in that very spot in 2007. In an open letter to fans, founder Dale Thompson spoke out and addressed them.

In 1983, Dale and Troy Thompson started a band called Matrix in Louisville, Kentucky. Three years later, the band signed to the Refuge Records subsidiary label Pure Metal and changed their name to Bride.

Over the course of the next 30 years, Bride was a mainstay in Christian Metal, releasing 20+ CDs and opening doors for the Christian Metal / Hard Rock bands of the future.

In 2007, apparently there are several rumors floating around about the band and the faith of founding member and lead vocalist, Dale Thompson. In this open letter, Dale addresses those rumors.

Hey folks,
May I take the time to clear up a few rumors that seems to be floating around the Internet? Yes Bride plans only one more CD. We see no reason to keep the band functioning for years and years. The industry is just not supporting bands like ourselves. I have talked with many other members from bands that have been around as long as Bride and they too feel that the industry has changed so drastically that there is no place for bands such as Bride.
Next, about my beliefs. I have not backslid, I have not joined a cult, I have not formed or started a new religion, I have not denounced Christ, I have never said there is no hell, yes I believe that there is a hell, etc, etc, etc.
Here's the deal. I love God with all of my heart and soul. Every fiber of my being has been dedicated to the service of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. I do this still! No man can come to the Father except they go through the Son and if the Spirit calls them. It takes the blood of Christ, His love, His life, His grace, and mercy to see the Kingdom of God.
I believe that a person must be transformed by the renewing of their mind and God then creates in that person a new and clean heart.
I do not believe that God is limited in any way and I believe that His will shall be done!
Now I am sure that all of us read our Bibles and we all have not come up with the same conclusions concerning many doctrinal issues. There are issues like speaking in tongues, divine healing, foot washing, heaven and hell, the rapture (pre-post-mid or none at all) WHAT DOES IT MATTER AS LONG AS WE ARE SEEKING CHRIST!
There is one requirement "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.(Rom 10:9) "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (1 John 5:13)
Believing is the key. I have been a believer for over 30 years now. Many that have tried to destroy our ministry are not even 30 years old. I am confused by the horrible vicious attacks that we have received on the Internet from a certain group that calls themselves Christians.
People think too highly of themselves I suppose. We can't add an inch to our own height so what makes anyone think they can do anything without God.
Look at this "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:" (Eph 2:8) Jesus said - "You have not chosen me I have chosen you." You see many years ago He apprehended me and I have never once thought about going back. These folks that have asked radio stations to boycott Bride, and have sent out horrible things (all made up lies) are on a campaign to tarnish the name Bride. But what they do not understand is the work that God has done and will continue doing through Bride is an eternal and divine work that is "Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:" The work of God cannot be touched.
I ask you now to pray for those who have come against us, for it is to their shame and destruction that they have done this.
Thank you for enduring this email. I wish I did not have to defend myself.
You would really think there was something more important than Dale Thompson out there that people could entertain their time with.
Vocalist for Bride

My thanks to Mark Blair Glunt of Silent Planet Promotions and Silent Planet Radio for bringing this situation to my attention.

Sadly, in 2013, Bride retired from Christian music after a 30 year run. It was due, in part, to their early work that today we have bands like Demon Hunter, For Today, Icon for Hire and The Letter Black.
