About Core Energetics

Core Energetics is a process for life and healing based on a powerful evolutionary therapeutic approach that seeks the integration of all aspects of our humanity—the emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual. This process is built on the foundation of the work of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and Wilhelm Reich. As part of this, Gestalt, The Core Energetic approach incorporates the spiritual aspect through the transmissions of Eva Pierrakos.

Core Energetics - Transformative Process

Core Energetics is based on a deep understanding of the ways in which energy and consciousness work together in the transformative process of healing. The vision of the work is to invite a deeper experience and identification with one's core energy and feelings, releasing the individual to create his or her life from this personal yet universal center. This is achieved gradually by bringing consciousness, movement and, ultimately, transformation to the core's overlying defensive structures.

The result is the release of a vast amount of energy, creating vitality, greater life fulfillment, joy and pleasure.

The Institute of Core Energetics

Founded 20 years ago by John Pierrakos, M.D., The Institute of Core Energetics is a worldwide organization with therapy and training centers in New York, California, Mexico, South American and Europe. The Institute's training program is offered to mental health professionals, psychotherapy trainees, and those in the healing arts who wish to enhance the depth of their professional practice and personal evolution.

John Pierrakos - Founder of Core Energetics

John Pierrakos ( 8 Feb1921 - 1 Feb 2001) co-founded Bioenergetics with Alexander Lowen. He was the developer of Core Energetics.

Greek-born Dr. John Pierrakos attended medical school at Columbia in New York. He became an American citizen when he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944. He remained in New York to study psychiatry. His mentor was Wilhelm Reich, but disassociated with him after two years when Reich's practices were being questioned by the American Psychiatric Association for fear of jeopardizing his own medical credentials.

He later worked with Eva Broch, a spiritual channel who created The Pathwork of Self-Transformation. They fell in love and married. In his autobiography Pierrakos wrote this about Eva "...she awakened my interest in the spiritual dimension of consciousness." Core Energetics came about due to his accumulated studies from psychiatry, Reich, Bioenergetics, Eva's spirit guide, and Pathwork.
